Christmas cookies

Our tradition of making Christmas cookies began few years ago when someone from Belgrade brought me Decembar issue of Serbian magazine Elle. As at the same time I found recipe in that magazine and I got molds in supermarket as a Christmas gift, I have realized that this will be great activity for my daughter Petra during winter time. We used to make those cookies with our grandparents, but as this year we miss them, our small classmate friends us helped us.

Ingredients

  • 350 g of flour

  • 1 tbsp of bicarbonate soda

  • 130 g of brown sugar

  • 125 g of butter

  • 1 egg

  • 4 spoons of honey or maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp of shredded ginger

Directions

  • Beat the butter and brown sugar completely and then other ingredients and continue to beat with the mixer. When you get real dough, make a ball using your hands and put in the aluminium foil and leave in the fridge for 2 hours. On lightly floured surface with rolling pin make one piece of dough thick around 1 cm.
  • Using molds make cookies and bake them on baking sheet around 10 minutes at 180 C. I like them more without sugar decoration, but if you like to have decoration you can use sugar frosting gels.
